Charging
Device charges slowly or not at all
Swap the cable first, then the port. Cables fail invisibly and lint compacts inside charging ports until the connector no longer seats. If both are clean, check the charger's output rating matches what the device asks for.

Hubs and docks
Monitor not detected through a hub
Confirm your laptop supports the number of external displays you are asking for, since a hub cannot override that limit. Then try the hub on a different port, as not every USB-C port on a laptop carries video.

Storage
SSD slower than the rated speed
Nine times out of ten it is the cable or the port. A drive on a bundled charging cable silently drops to a fraction of its speed. Use the rated cable in your machine's fastest port, not a hub's passthrough.
What sustained speed really means
Wireless
Wireless charging stops or overheats
Remove thick or metal cases and anything between phone and pad, including cards. If the phone runs hot, move it out of direct sunlight; devices throttle charging to protect the battery once they warm up.
